Mosaics show Private View

Last Tuesday’s Private View was another success as extracurricular activities go.
We decided to hold an open evening to celebrate Artco trainees hard work at producing 24 individual mosaics (using broken ceramic pieces, grout and 2D designs worked up by trainees in the beginning) currently on display in our Gallery.

Our event lasted from 5 – 7pm and we had a moderately good turn out and managed to sell over 10 original pieces of fine art and several of our ‘keyrings’ and assorted merchandise.

A special thank you goes out to Jake and Danny for helping through the evening, giving up their time to lend a hand. Danny was our resident DJ, picking some great hits on Youtube from 1981 to serenade our guests and Jake was a great salesman, assisting patrons to examine the work and introducing them to artefacts such as cook books, greeting cards and other bits. We made over £100 in the space of a couple of hours and without an external artist to pay, we get to funnel the proceeds into art supplies for our trainees (result).

We will be holding another show of our trainees work in August and will keep busy producing all new work for then.

Other art events for us up and coming include a change of our work at the Constable Gallery, Colchester General Hospital and a new ‘Textiles’ based show at the St Botolph’s Waiting Room Colchester.
