The Frame Show: Level Best’s Summer Art Display

This show is a bit different from our usual art shows, in that the focus is on the colourful and quirkily hung mounts and frames on top of the drawings and paintings on display. It started with a bit of a challenge to both display big rolls of paper, as well as donated frames (which we have been patterning and colouring separately) on our walls without sticking anything to our walls, but instead hanging it all from our hanging system. Jane had the bright idea of first hanging a large curtain around our walls, which we then used to pin the paper artwork on to and finally hang the frames on top of the artwork. Trainees chose where and at what angle to frame our paper artwork and we then added eyelets and hung them appropriately. See pictures below of us installing the work and how it looks upon completion (see panoramic above). Also featuring our giant knitting project by ARTO trainee Simon Waller, which he has been knitting for some time and which we thought fills our staircase to nowhere space quite nicely.

The work is not listed for sale and is a group effort by many ARTO trainees.

It is more of a conceptual show to highlight how interestingly work can be framed,
but if you are interested in buying any of the work on display, we are happy to hear your offers.
